Sleepless in Seattle

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

We are currently in Seattle. After a two day drive from Vegas we are pretty pleased about the weather here: rain and clouds! Yay! What a nice change to the heat and dryness of the Nevada desert. I loved especially the ride through Oregon and Washington. It was so green and all these little creeks alongside the freeway were making the drive so pleasant.
I am so happy to see all my cousins again. It’s time for a nice little and long overdue catch-up!

Draft of thank you card

Friday, July 11th, 2008

I was thrilled when we picked up our proofs today. The pictures turned out so beautiful. I started to work on the thank you cards right away. This is my first draft. Yay!!

Super excited

James and I got pretty sick after the wedding. I am still running on recovery mode. We caught a pretty bad flu and my throat is still soaring like hell. After over a week of strong antibiotics it hasn’t gotten any better. I went to see the doc and I could not believe that the doctoral visit was $175 but since I paid in cash I got a discount of 60 bucks. Now that’s quite a deal! In Germany a doctoral visit costs only 10 bucks per term. But unfortunately this is not the case here.

We just received our health insurance papers. We chose the option of covering up to a certain amount per year ourselves to keep the monthly insurance premium low. The good thing is also that we opted for a PPO insurance which allows us to choose the doctor for any treatment ourselves. I wished that the health care system would be somewhat similar to the one that Europeans have. I prefer contributing with my salary to it knowing that most of it is covered no matter what you have. People here in the US have gone bancrupt because they could not afford certain medical treatments. I hope that our families will stay healthy for the future to come.

We are leaving Las Vegas tomorrow to pic up the wedding pics in LA. I can’t wait to see them. After all these weeks of waiting! I will upload them as soon as possible for you guys, so stick around!
